This is my second pair of FXs. The first I have built up for sidecountry touring with Kingpins. While fully awesome in that role, I wanted to see how they would ski in a dedicated alpine set up. Reggie at High Society got me into some 175s (I\'m 6\'1\", 170) since I like the flickability of the shorter ski. He did this right at closing - this is a company that does things right. Plus, made in US! Skis showed up two days later (I live one state down on CO) and I skied them the following Saturday in Santa Fe. Conditions weren\'t great but the FXs were. Super edge hold for such a rockered, sorta soft snow oriented ski. Very light and easy swinging tips. I\'m no bump crusher but these things made it seem easy. I had been on a narrower ski for alpine work so I had to adjust for 102 underfoot but that took about two turns. I was fresh out of powder so I couldn\'t test that aspect of the ski. However, my older AT FXs are powder freaks. I\'m sure the full alpine setup will rule there too. On hardpack the skis really went beyond what one would expect for this sort of equipment. I could actually carve pretty cleanly and the skis only chattered a bit when I chickened out and skidded a few steeper turns of super slab. This is probably the biggest improvement over my older skis. Subtle changes in the core and top sheet make for a pretty stable ski without killing the fun of a nice poppy wood core. Overall, the original ski was rad, this one is beyond rad. I love it. I guess I\'ll come back for another pair in three years...
